How to Search Cases by Name
Start at the Georgia Courts E-Access directory for Candler County State or Superior Court cases. Both Candler listings lead to PeachCourt. Before you type a party name, pick the right county and court from the menu. Georgia Courts says you must create an account first. So this is not an anonymous statewide public index of court records. A common surname can pull up plenty of matches in the docket. Use the case type, the filing period, or a known case number to narrow things down.
- Open Georgia E-Access and select Candler State Court or Candler Superior Court.
- Create or sign into the PeachCourt account that the provider requires.
- Choose Search, then Cases, and select Candler County and the correct court.
- Enter the party name as an alternative to an exact case number, then compare matching records.
- Open the case docket and verify the style, court, status, and dates before relying on the match.
Search diagnostics on PeachCourt list several fields for user lookups. You can search by Name, Email address, Partial name, Partial email address, or Bar number. None of that, though, opens up a party-name index for Candler County; the case workflow still runs through county, court, and case or party search.
| Field | Type | Required | Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| County | Selection | Yes | Choose Candler |
| Court | Selection | Yes | Choose State or Superior |
| Party name | Text | Alternative | Use when the number is unknown |
| Case number | Exact text | Alternative | Preserve its full format |
Candler County PeachCourt Account Gate
PeachCourt is an access and filing vendor, not Candler County's official custodian. Registering asks for a first and last name. It also wants an email plus confirmation, a password plus confirmation, a secret question and answer, reCAPTCHA, and agreement to terms. A login wall does not mean the case is sealed. It only means the provider wants a signed-in user before any search runs. Document images add another layer. PeachCourt lets account holders purchase certain documents. But sealed records, adoption documents, and proposed yet unexecuted orders stay excluded. A docket index can still show that an event or filing exists. That applies when no image is available. For anything official or certified, contact Clerk of Superior Court Jenny Grimes. Don't treat a vendor screen as the court's original.
Key distinction: Login limits, purchase terms, and legal record restrictions are different barriers. Ask the clerk which one applies before assuming a file is closed.
How to Search by Case Number
The full case number is usually the sharpest Candler County case lookup key. PeachCourt help tells you to enter it in the exact local format. Do that after choosing the county and court. Keep every letter, hyphen, and leading zero intact. Candler publishes no single public format covering every court. So treat an invented pattern like YYYY-CR-##### as nothing more than an example. Criminal numbers can shift as a case moves. PeachCourt help notes that a search may redirect you to a newer number. Hold onto both versions, then compare the parties, charges, court, and filing history. When the exact search fails, fall back to the party name. Ask the clerk whether the case was renumbered, transferred, or opened under another court class. Cases search and Filings search do different jobs. Cases locates a case docket by number or party. Filings calls for an exact Peach number tied to a known filing. E-filing is separate again: find the case, choose "File into this case," identify a party, pick and upload a document, handle eService and payment, submit, confirm redaction, and wait for an acceptance or rejection email.
GSCCCA Is Not Candler Case Lookup
The GSCCCA statewide search is easy to mistake for a case portal. Its public categories cover real estate, UCC, liens, plats, notaries, PT-61 records, and related systems. Nothing there amounts to a general Candler County civil or criminal docket search. For Candler State or Superior case access, use Georgia Courts E-Access and PeachCourt. The GSCCCA page itself shows the gap in scope. That gap is real.

The GSCCCA clerk directory is still handy for contact details and eCertification availability. But its records search is not a county case-name database. Candler Juvenile, Magistrate, State, and Superior courts all appear on the GSCCCA eCertification availability list. That service deals in certified records and replaces no docket search. Probate runs through its own office and website. Metter municipal records follow the city court route.
What a Candler County Case Search Shows
A search result can identify the case and open its docket detail. Fields vary by court, case type, account, and restriction. PeachCourt's documented criminal docket model covers assigned judge, status, co-defendants, prosecuting and defense counsel, charges, disposition and date, calendar events, docket proceedings, and case documents when available. Civil detail may show the number, court, style, filing date, status, events, and documents.
| Case number | The court identifier. Keep all variants if a criminal matter was renumbered. |
|---|---|
| Style or parties | The case caption or abbreviated party labels used to check a match. |
| Filed date | When the case or paper was filed, not necessarily the event date. |
| Status | Open, pending, disposed, closed, or another court label. It is not a full history. |
| Calendar event | A planned setting that must be checked for continuances and resets. |
| Docket or document | The event index and the filing image are separate access objects. |
A charge is an allegation, not a conviction. A motion is a request, not a ruling. A disposition needs its code or order read in context, and certified copies come only through the clerk's process.
Candler County Dashboard Limits
The Georgia Administrative Office of the Courts publishes data and statistics dashboards. These track aggregate counts and workload measures, never individual people or case dockets. Courts self-report the numbers. The official source itself cautions users about what those counts represent. A dashboard cannot locate a hearing, pull a pleading, or prove how a case ended. The dashboard directory shows that statistical focus plainly.

Use that route for broad filing or disposition totals. For one Candler County case, use PeachCourt or the proper clerk. If aggregate data needs a custom export, follow the AOC request route. Don't ask the Candler clerk to build a new statistical report as though it were an existing court record.
County vs Statewide Case Search
Georgia has no single anonymous portal that covers every Candler County case lookup at once. The statewide E-Access directory sends each participating court to its own provider. Candler State and Superior cases land in PeachCourt. The clerk of court still keeps the official county records. Federal cases and the other court classes each follow a separate route. So match your docket search to the right court before you start.
| Route | Coverage | Best Use |
|---|---|---|
| Georgia E-Access | Directory of participating courts | Find the official Candler State or Superior provider |
| PeachCourt | Candler State and Superior | Account-based case and docket lookup |
| Candler Clerk | Superior, State, Juvenile, Magistrate | Official record, fallback, copies, certification |
| Probate or municipal office | Its own court records | Direct local routing |
| PACER or CM/ECF | Federal matters | Southern District and bankruptcy dockets |
Federal trial matters are different. Candler County sits inside the Southern District of Georgia's Statesboro Division, and living in the county does not by itself prove that venue. Search the federal docket and its division notice instead of relying on PeachCourt for those cases.
Candler County Search During Disruptions
Storms and other emergencies can shift Candler County court operations. Dates move too, without touching the basic lookup route. Georgia Courts maintains an emergency archive of official orders. It includes Candler and Middle Circuit entries tied to Hurricane Helene in 2024 plus a later 2025 order. Those entries are historical records rather than proof of any current closure. Reading one can explain a gap or a moved hearing on the docket. Check the archive itself for the exact wording of any order.

During a live disruption, line up four things before drawing conclusions. Grab the latest order, the Eighth District notice, the docket entry, and guidance from the clerk. A missing calendar event does not erase the case. Once operations resume, a filing or setting may show up under a later date. Keep the case number and any renumbered version handy. The Candler County court dates route covers why every listing still needs confirming.
Restricted Cases and Access Rules
Not every Candler County court record shows up in a normal account search. Georgia law gives juvenile files stronger protection. Sealed filings, adoption documents, unexecuted proposed orders, in-camera material, Social Security numbers, and protected victim, witness, or confidential-informant data can all be excluded or redacted. A hidden document has not been destroyed. Ask the clerk which part is public. Ask whether a redacted copy, certified index, or access order exists. Be careful about the request route. The county's Georgia Open Records Act form reaches Board of Commissioners records only. Court and Probate requests must go straight to those offices. That distinction prevents delay and keeps the legal custodian in charge. Do not ask PeachCourt to override a seal or hand over protected personal data. Where access depends on being a party or having a court order, follow that process.
Candler County No-Result Checklist
An empty result is a troubleshooting task, not a conclusion. Start with court class: Superior and State are distinct, and Probate, Juvenile, Magistrate, Metter Municipal, and federal cases cannot substitute for one another. Then check the punctuation in the case number, any changed criminal number, the date range, your login status, and the spelling of the name.
- Retry the exact case number and then the party-name alternative.
- Check whether the matter belongs to Probate, municipal court, or federal court.
- Consider whether the file predates typical PeachCourt coverage, which often reaches to about 2005 but varies by court.
- Ask whether the record is sealed, juvenile, redacted, or unavailable through the account.
- Call Jenny Grimes’s office at 912-685-5257 with the court type and approximate filing period.
The courthouse sits at 35 SW Broad Street, Metter, GA 30439. Mail goes to P.O. Box 830. Before sending anything, confirm the accepted request format. Check the fees, delivery method, and how protected information is handled. The clerk posts no public email, copy-order form, terminal, or universal Candler database. Staff may explain access steps. Treat the office as the custodian of court records rather than a broad research service.
Note: Direct a court-file request to the clerk, not the Candler County Board of Commissioners Open Records form.
Candler County Court Labels Change
Old official pages can hold onto outdated judicial staffing long after it changes. The Eighth District's Candler page still lists a legacy State Court entry for J. Kendall Gross. Yet the official Judicial Nominating Commission vacancy page records his February 2026 resignation. The Governor announced Brent C. Carter's appointment. It came in July 2026. Rely on court and case number, not an old judge name. Use them when running a docket search.
The vacancy page documents the transition in the commission's own words.

This is why the current county directory and the clerk should outrank stale circuit contact labels. A judge's assignment can change while the docket stays tied to the same court class. A qualifying Candler trial matter can be appealed. The Georgia Court of Appeals then opens a separate appellate docket. The trial record and the appellate record are related. They never show up as one search result.
